1. Dr. Joseph Sharkey recommended that Donald Brown links up with Theresa Mangapora at the Brazos Valley Food Bank to inquire about purchasing food at reduced prices. This would make his budget go farther and allow more students to obtain food for evening and weekend meals.

2. Dr. Sharkey also recommended that Donald Brown connects with other schools in Bryan-College Station who are operating school-based food pantries to learn their best practices.

3. Improve the students' ability to access the food pantry by promoting a culture that supports students who need food assistance. Mr. Brown could share his story with the entire student body of how he relied on food assistance when he was a high school student. Additionally, the school could send letters home to the parents to have the parents encourage their children to visit the food pantry.

4. Increase community outreach for governmental food assistance programs. WIC and SNAP staff should address this but the school could help as well by sending a letter home to parents and even putting information about these programs on their website.
